I recieved a C for my resume. I felt this was a little bit of a low score, but I was not totally surprised. I have not had much training on developing a resume, so I guess I kind of approach it like I am filing our a application. This site is very useful and if I would need this tool in the future I think my resume would benefit from using it.

The standard that I feel this relates most to is 3a to demonstrate fluency in technology systems and transfer the knowledge into current situations.

Photostory Assignment

When I first started out this assignment I once again felt like I was on top of things, but then when it came to posting I had some difficulties. I tried to upload my video to teachertube but it would not work. I tried repeatedly to know avail. So after a couple hours of frustration I decided to close up shop for the night. Then in the morning I woke up and decided to try again. This time using Youtube and I had success!!!! The standard this most relates to is 4c  to promote and model digital etiquette and responsible social interactions related to the use of technology and information.

This assignement just like many of the others challenged me, but once I played around with it enough I was able to figure out what I needed to do.

I relate this to the Standard 3 because it involves using technology, prior knowlede, and prior assignements in order for students and teachers to make advances and relevant lessons for their educational experience

I like a lot of others had extreme diffiuclty with this assignment. I tried to follow everyone's advice and technigues but I still cannot get my video to loop. I do see where this could be a very benefical thing to learn.

I relate this to the standard 3c because it is allowing students and teachers to use tecnology skills to upload vidoes and make them accessible for classroom and technology needs.

I enjoyed doing this assignment even though it was kind of tricky coming up with the questions. This post can most closely be realted to the standard #2 which allows students and teachers to evaluate their contemporary tools into resources and to continue developing their skills.

Prezi Assignment

This assignment was difficult for me. I watched the tutorials and still had difficulty completing it. I do feel this application will help people create more interesting things than the typical powerpoint, although I do not feel it is as user friendly as some of the other things we have been taught it this class. I think I added to many details but I had difficulty trying to remove some of the things I had placed in the assignment. I would probably continue to stick with basic power point until I got more familiar with the techniques, but as  always it is benefical to know what is available to us as educators in sucha  technology and image driven world.

I feel this assignment is most closely related to the NETS standard 3. It calls upon prior knowledge to be demonstarted and converted into present technology skills. I think both teachers and students will be able to make cool presentations with this and it does provide a unique look into power points.

This is the link that I used to create my slideshow for the assignment. I enjoyed doing this assignment. I used a lecture that I had previously listened to and recreated it to use as an introduction slide show for helping children with impulsive behaviors.

I feel that the standard this most relates to is 2a. Students would be able to access this by learning new skills and sharing what they have done with new technology strategies!

In this assignment we were required to use a Spreadsheet that had grades on them and average the grades and produce a grade book. I enjoyed doing this assignment. I made changes to the spreadsheet we were provided and uploaded them to Google Documents.

This is another very interesting thing that I have learned in this course. I feel it is also realted to standard 2. We need to have prior knowledge in order to apply it to new things and carry out new tasks. I am amazed at how much is available at my fingertips that I have not been accessing.

I really didn't have any trouble using the program, I just felt like I looked like a man no matter what I did to the portrait. So I am hoping it really does not look like me!!!

Snippit Assignment

Here is the shortcut I produced. The reason I choose to do a snippit of Ocean City Maryland was because I figured I could use this in my classroom, if I were to have my student's research destination or places they would like to travel to.

I think this most closely relates to the standards in 3a. Using technology and recalling previous knowledge to learn new techniques and knowledge. I felt very much out of my comfort zone on this assignment, but I do see where it could be beneficial. I never even knew this tool existed.

I feel that the ISTE NETS-T Standard that this matched up with is 1a. As teachers we are encouraged to investigate and figure out how our students learn and what drives them. I think the cone method that is discussed in the readings helps show all the different levels in which ones learning can be engaged!

Well each time I work on a assignment it freaks me out a little because it is something I am very unfamiliar with, but once I get going on the assignment I start to breathe again. I knew this class would be challenging and I am enjoying learning new methods I have not been exposed too. The Diigo toolbar is very interesting and it is very nice to be able to see all of my bookmarks organized and placed together. The only other type of experience I guess I have had with this is using adobe acrobat so I guess I do not have much to compare web browsers to. All this terminology is fairly new to me. This class is starting to make me realize that I do not really know as much about computer's as I thought I did.

ISTE NETS-T Standards
At first I thought this assignment was weird and difficult but once I got started I felt it was pretty cool. I feel it is related most to 5d. It helps us come up with ways to reach out and communicate with our students! New technology and avatars are really an awesome up to date way we can stay connected with our kids. It is important to keep changing with the kids and the times.

This should be a tool that students could execute easily because they already have experience from using it with a lot of social networks.

Educational Psychology Google DocumentPhew!!! Here is my posting on this assignment! I had some difficulty with this assignment! I think I have included everything we are supposed too!!!

My Flesch Reading Ease score was a 66 and my Flesch-Kincaid Grade level score was an 8.2. I found this to be very interesting. I really did not know this feature was able to be activated.

The standard that I felt that this particular post relates to is the ISTE NETS Standard 5d. This talks about how we need to relate theories and feelings to what we teach and why we teach. I think this assignment called for us to figure out why we wanted to teach in the first place.

ISTE NETS-T Standards
I feel the standard that this relates closets too would be 3a. 3a states that teachers need to be able to communicate relative technology using different medias and uses based on prior knowledge of technology. While I never used google documents before I was able to successfully carry out this assignment because of my prior knowledge with technology. I feel this is a big part of being a teacher in the digital age. A lot of what I do on the computer I learn by just getting on and trying it.

Learning Style Test Questions

The results of my Learning Style test were as follows: Visual 2, Aural 6, Read/Write 5, and Kinestic 3. I have to say I guess I am a little surprised at the results. I thought the physical would be higher because I do feel I like to learn by performing things more hands on. I was also surprised that the Visual score was so low, I really feel that I need to see things spelled out in front of me, and that pictures help me a great deal. I see where the Aural might be so high because I could be proven to hear things and learn from them but I still feel I am more visually drawn to things. The one score that did not surprise me was the Reading and Writing. I write everything down and usually in several different ways. I like to recopy things and produce them in ways that I feel are effective. I also am able to memorize things this way. For example, once I have copied down my kids schedules by hand off the computer print out, I usually can remember their schedules verbatim. I remember things like birthdays and phone numbers this way as well. This is another reason while I feel I am visual.

Test Questions:

1. What are the learning styles? There are 7 learning styles: Visual/spatial which deals with images and pictures, Aural/Auditory which uses sound and music, Verbal/linguistic which uses words when dealing with speech and writing, physical/kinestetic involves hands on activity and sense of touch, logical/mathematical using logic and reasoning, Social.interpersonal which involves learning in groups and helping others, and solitary/intrapersonal which means someone prepares to learn alone and work alone.
2. How can awareness of learning styles improve performance in a learning environment? By having a better understanding and awareness of the different learning styles it helps us as educators to understand that not all students learn the same. I feel it can improve performance in the learning environment because if we can find what triggers a students learning and how to interest them it will be easier to teach them.
3. Does any of this matter? I certainly feel all this matters because not only do students who are in Special Education learn differently all students as a whole have different learning styles. The face of teaching is something that is always changing and to be effective in our classrooms it is important that we are finding ways to connect with all our students and trying to reach them in as many ways as possible.

Learning Styles

I feel that I learn different things in different ways. First and foremost I feel I learn things hands on and physically, as in the kinestesic learning style. I have always felt very nervous when I first start something new. For example, when I first went to beauty school I felt I knew nothing about being able to cut hair even though we had trained and practiced for 3 months. Then when I got the chance to work out on the floor for real is when I learned through experience and trial and error. I also feel the same thing has been true for me with teaching. I am finishing up my 3rd year and I feel totally different about my job now that I have experience under my belt. I feel I have learned most of this hands on and being in the field.
I also think I learn things pretty well visually. It helps me to be able to see things in a picture and have the images in front of me. I like to see examples and be able to make comparisons of what I am doing to help check for clarity. I also feel that I can learn a lot by learning things verbally or linguistically, it helps me to write things down and see things in the written word.

1. What is a web browser?  A web browser consists of software that is used to help retrieve and present information resources on the Internet.
2. List the most popular 4 web browsers currently? Which browser do you use? The four most popular web browsers are Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Chrome, and Safari. I currently use Internet Explore, but have experience with using Firefox for another class in the past.
3. What does the term 'browser war' mean and what drives the competition between web browsers? What is the big deal in having the #1 browser? Browser war is a term that refers to two competitors who are competing for space on the web in order to be known as the dominant browser on the web. The big deal of having bragging rights of being number 1 on the web helps secure advertising rights, space on new computers that are being purchased and often times free advertising my word of mouth.

I have never posted on my own blog before and I am not actually sure what I am doing but I have created my first blog for this class! I am very nervous about this class, but excited at the same time. This is supposed to be an introductory blog so my name is Lindsay Shockey and I am 32 years old. I have been teaching behavior disorder at Mussleman Middle School in Inwwod, West Virginia for 3 years now. I am working towards my Masters in Multi Categorial Special Education.
My husband and I will have been married for 8 years on June 7th and we have a wonderful 7 year old boy named Jackson who keeps us busy. We also run a youth group with about 25 teenagers!
